How Roof Insurance Claims Work After Storm Damage
A roof insurance claim starts with a documented inspection, then a claim filing with your carrier, an adjuster inspection on site, a written scope, and finally repair or replacement by your chosen contractor.
Step 1: Inspection and documentation
Your contractor inspects the roof and documents storm-related damage with photos and measurements.
Step 2: File the claim
You contact your carrier and provide the date of loss and basic description.
Step 3: Adjuster inspection
An adjuster inspects on site. Your contractor can attend to ensure all damage is presented.
Step 4: Scope and approval
The adjuster issues a scope. Your contractor reviews it for accuracy.
Step 5: Repair
Approved scope is completed. Most carriers issue payment in two parts: ACV and depreciation upon completion.
